Hi,
I have been asked to make a cake for my friends wedding celebration, and I was wondering if anyone has a recipe for a good sponge to use for this sort of thing because I want to ice and decorate it too?
Any advice would be gratefully received!
Thanks
Jen

Personally it maybe cheaper to get a fruit cake or a sponge one from say Tesco or M & S then decorate them. When my aunt made our fruit cakes it cost more than we could of bought them from M & S forfurrypig says:my name is Choccy and I am addicted to nose free stamps as I want to save them all and give them noses!!!:rotfl:
About me. Im Choccy or Chocolate orange depending on where i am.Yes occasionally i am a total looon who spends too long online, but no where near as much £ as her spendy elves do ..:D0 -
depends how big you want to make the cake. I would say the sponges are cheaper to make than buy. The fruit cakes are cheaper to buy unless you are doing a big bottom tier which you cant seem to buy in the shops. I made two wedding cakes last year. One was a two tier plain sponge on the bottom and a lemon sponge on the top. The other was a three tier fruit on the bottom, chocolate in the middle and lemon on top!
Obviously it depends on tin size i think i did a 12inch 10 inch and 8 inch. I still have the receipes around so if any would be any use to you let me know! x0
