Flyers face losing their Airmiles
Some six million people hold an account with Airmiles
Travellers face losing all their Airmiles if they fail to collect at least one in the next six months, the firm behind the scheme has admitted.
Airmiles is writing to 1.7m customers who have not collected any in the last two years, warning their accounts will be closed if they miss the deadline.
The firm said the measure was covered by its terms and conditions.
But Simon Calder, the Independent's travel editor, said it was akin to banks closing savers' current accounts.

Thanks for this donaldtramp
Anybody know if they are transferable to another person?0 -
If you sign up for online access to your account, you can collect airmiles for online shopping at various retailers (a bit like nectar points), and there are also a number of 'no spend' offers where you can collect points.
I did this for my mum, as if you haven't collected points in the last year, there is a £30 administration charge if you redeem them!0 -
Hi,
Which are the 'no spend' offers
Thanks0 -
There was one for signing up to a free trial of 'The Week' magazine, one for signing up to E-rewards, and one for a free trial of Lovefilm. There may be others, but that was as far as I got. They don't earn a huge amount of miles, but anything will stop you losing what you have.0

Anyone know the legality, and T&C's related to, selling your airmiles on ebay?
I imagine you'd have to 'move house' to your buyer's address, then form a 'Household', then you could merge the accounts.0 -
The title of the thread is mis-leading.
You WILL NOT loose your Airmiles if you don't use them. You WILL loose them if you have not COLLECTED any in the past 2 years and continue to collect none in the next 6 months (easiest way to collect is to convert Tesco Clubcard vouchers into Airmiles)......0 -
I've got loads of Airmiles I have had for years, but can never find anything worthwhile to spend them on. :dance:0

I never get around to using mine. Does anyone know if they can be donated to charity?0
-
Hmm - I've still got some paper airmiles somewhere I wonder if they're still valid!
It was enough to do 2 return flights to Paris/Amsterdam years ago0 -
