I am looking to buy a new upright vacuum and thought i'd see what you guys thought as to good products and offers.
I don't really have a budget in mind but obviously want to be as MSE as possible. Don't have kids or pets so carpets and floors don;t get too mucky.
From my own searches it seems the Vax V-060C is a good vacuum. Reviews say it is heavy but I can live with that if it gives good cleaning power. Dad says wattage is important and this seems pretty high. Best deal I can find is at Tesco http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.205-7075.aspx.
Any advice/comments/thoughts?
Cheers

I have a Sebo X4 Extra that I am really happy with. It's a bagged upright, but cleans on a par with/better than the best cyclonics, and comes in at around the same price as a Dyson. It can be a little heavy, but not excessively (I've had supposedly lightweight machines that handled worse).

You won't find them in Currys/Tesco - try your local independant.

Edit - just had a look on their storefinder, and noticed Debenhams, John Lewis and the Co-op also carry them these days (at least in the Midlands).DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
