Recommend a London Hotel

Can anyone please help?
I am trying to organise a trip to London to surprise my girlfriend next week and I am looking for a really nice hotel (at a bargain price of course!).
I'm looking for somewhere fairly central, but outside the congestion charging zone, so I'm currently thinking about somewhere near Hyde Park or Regent's Park. However, all suggestions are welcome - especially if you know of somewhere particularly special!
Thanks in advance,
Machine

Ive stayed here loads of times and it is a lovely hotel and quite cheap and it's also right on Piccadilly Circus so you will be in walking distance of most London things. Rooms start from £40 per room upwards:

lastminute.com has some cheap secret hotels - you can see the star rating and where they are, but don't find out the name until booking.
i got a hilton deluxe room for £75 for a sat night - was over double that on their website!
there are probably a few threads on the holidays board that might help come up with suggestions for websites to use.:happyhear0 -
me and my gf had a weekend in London and we stayed in the Marriott in West India Quays in Docklands.
The hotel was lovelly and the service was excellent as it always is at a Marriott.
It was a little bit of a journy into central London, took about 20-30 mins but it was still a very relaxing weekened.
I bought a £100 off voucher off ebay for £40
the room cost about £100 a night including breakfast.
so cost me £150 for two nights including brekfast. It was well worht the money.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090 -
I've stayed in this hotel before which is in Camden. Great if you want to be based near the more northern area of the city or near all the gothy stuff

It was quite cheap too and the breakfast was really out of this world.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
I walk past this hotel every weekend which always has a sign outside saying "Rooms from £45 per night". It's in Stratford which is in east London. A fair treck from the city centre but one of the cheaper options.

When i went to London in the summer i stayed here.
It's right around the corner from hyde park and a red line tube station (name escapes me). Not sure how much it will cost though but i was £45 per room for me and my girlfriend at the time.Sometimes i surprise myself by being right.0
