My Boy Is Back With Me

Hi all

New on here tonite I need some help

basically I have been paying through the CSA my ex husband £178.00 a month for my 17 year old son whose at college. He stays with me more than 2 nights a week, I have since moved in to a new larger house and I have now found him staying for 5 nights or more.

For the last 12 months I have constantly had to feed, clothe and give him pocket money as well due to the fact that my ex basically does not give him anything, he is self-employed and suddenly for the last year only declares £15,000 earnings so claims every benefit he can to support his alcholism and gambling addiction none of what he claimes my son see's

The CSA last year would only agree the 2 nights per week as we both told them he stayed 3 nights with each of us so my ex got my money

And my son gets nothing from my ex

I have no faith in the CSA

What should I do next

Thanks Trisha

  • Are you receiving the child benefit for your son? unless this is in your name you wont be able to claim maintainence of your ex via the csa.
  • so for the (to quote you)

'For the last 12 months I have constantly had to feed, clothe and give him pocket mone'

isnt that whats being a parent is being about ?

dad has had to do the same and more, and if dad had / has alcholism and gambling addiction as you say why did you let your child stay there ?

is it about the money trish ?

So you would be quite happy paying an ex £178 per month aswell as footing most of the bill for bringing up your child?

  • Easy on the lady.....

It's easy to get angry at PWC's but every case is different and as shes come here for help we should be unbias.

Sorry to hear you ex is such a !!!! with his son. Get your son to live with you full time and claim what you are due for him. Do not let your ex come to your place. If he is in further education of 12hrs per week or more you can claim CSA from your ex. 2nights per week or more is a claim. If your son is with you more then ex has to pay I'm afraid.

    Good luck
