Bank Account problems

Do we have a right to complain?? about 2 years ago my husband went to our local branch with a query on one of our accounts, which was sorted out but the advisor at the time offered him a new product for our account and would we like to take it up, it was the Additions plus account it gave you numerous things like free travel insurance, full rac membership ect ect so we decided we would take it the cost for this each month is about £16.00 anyway to cut a long story short we have been going over our finances due to the credit crunch, and have discoverd that our other current bank account also has a similar cover as the Additions plus the only difference is we dont get the free travel insurance and for this pleasure we pay About £14.00 so what i am asking is do you think we have the right to complain that we were misold the Additions plus as she never told my husband that we had something similar running on our other account if we had known we would have cancelled one and taken the other, we have rang the bank and put in a formal complaint but they have told us not to expect anything back. should we pursue this or let it be as we never checked the account in the beginning.

If you feel it wasnt explained properly; by all means complain. But they may say you were given all the literature and you ought to have read them earlier

thanks for that, we were not given any literature at the time it was just something they said they would add to the account, i know maybe we should have picked it up earlier but they must have also known we had the same service on the other account as well

Those add-ons are often a bit of a con anyway. Can I suggest you tot up how much you'd actually spend on the services you genuinely use from the Additions package and see if they come to more than £16 a month? Most people don't actually use all the stuff offered in those packages and so are effectively wasting money.
