    Don't talk to them on the phone, it's a waste of breath and also they just use it to harass you about stuff they wouldn't put into writing. Just tell them you want all future correspondence in writing and ignore it if they start arguing.

    You're already through the worst bit because you have faced up to the problem. I was in the same place as you about six months ago. Trust me, getting on top of the problem and being realistic about your options makes you feel much better. Also, if you haven't already, do talk to one of the charities. They are not at all judgmental and are extremely helpful at identifying what options you have.

    There is also a whole forum of people dealing with MBNA at consumeractiongroup.co/forums/mbna - very useful for seeing exactly how dodgy MBNA really are. Worth reading a few of the threads there - it made me feel much better because I realised how dubious they are.
