Christening

Attending a christening in July - any ideas for a modern gift - don't want to give the usual silver money boxes etc. - ideally £30-50 in cost. Any ideas welcome.

  • The last time I attended a christening I bought a box and collected together momentos for the day the baby was born.

    Eg.

    newspaper for birthday
    top 10 music tracks
    magazines
    commenorative stamps
    meaning of their name
something with their Chinese year on
something with their star sign on
    family tree

My dad always buys the Royal Mint baby collection set or the 2009 proof set

That is a fantastic idea cuthbert! I would never have thought of that.
  • Thanks Simpy.

It can be inexpensive, but is more time consuming than a traditional present.

I'm not sure how old the child is, if a baby/toddler how about making up a nappy cake, could include a nice photo frame or money box.

I was a godmother last year and basically did the same as cuthbert the octopus but put all the information in a white album. Also included things like the price of a house and a loaf of bread; page for child handprints; page for family tree...
