Hi everyone,
my husband got made redundant 3 weeks ago, (they went into admin owing him dec and jan wages plus holiday and we proberbly wont see any of that, still waiting for the gov. redundancy pay out of 3 weeks wages) and we are expecting our first baby in 3 weeks.
I'm looking for advice on how to keep afloat at this very diffcult time.
we have a mortgage in my name which we have managed to take a maternity break from
we both have credit card repayments to make, (all on 0%) we were just getting on top of paying these off but we will have to go on to min payments now. (and even then our income wont cover this and the bills)
apart from that we have council tax, and the usual bills.
my husband is now getting contribution based job seekers I am currently getting 90% of my part time wage, about £750 per month, but in 6 weeks this will go down to £100 per week.
we cant claim anything else untill the baby comes.
Does anyone have any advice on what to do next? been to cab tried entitled to web site, cant even get maternity grant. pah!
any help and advice much appriciated.

Are you able to get WTC?
I suggest you work out what you are entitled to for the baby after your mat allowance reduces and then play with entitledto.com again.
Will you get CTC?
Can you then get any housing allowance (I think the rule is now three months).
Do you have PPI on any cards? Any cover on the mortgage?
Get any paperwork for the new allowances you can claim now and then OH can claim almost the day the baby is born.
if you were not planning to consider breast feeding and locate a good breast feeding clinic or nurse NOW.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
We were eligable for wtc but now Im not sure, will have to look in to it, we have no protection on our cards that Im aware of but I'll check thanks,
we are planing to breast feed, but I might have to go back to work when the baby is 3 weeks old.
What is housing allowance?0 -
After 13 weeks, hubby may be able to claim interest portion of the mortgage. Check whether you can if you go back to work, in the WTC package. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
