vegetarian options

Hi, my hubby and I are both veggies and find it very difficult to eat out, as choice of food is very limited. Sometimes there is nothing suitable on the menu and we have to ask if they can do us a veggie meal, and are usually offered stir fry. {I am not a big fan of Indian food and I know there is a good choice of veggie meals there.}
Would anyone be able to recommend a good choice of veggie options in restaurants/pubs? We are in Down but would travel to get a nice meal. Thanks x:o

Probably not what you're looking for, but I like Wetherspoons vegetarian choices. They have quite a few on there and great value for money. I know what you mean about being limited though.
There was a place on the Antrim Road way back, and not sure if it's still there.....McGinty's I think.....no idea what it's like now.
Northern Whig did a good feed as well.0 -
I'm veggie and know exactly what you mean

I might be stating the obvious but Pizza Express is pretty good if you like pizza obviously, there are a lot of veggie pizzas as well as a veggie pasta and some good salads.
I like The Apartment in town but prefer it for lunch - dinner sometimes attracts the cocktail crowd IYKWIM. 2taps in cathedral quarter also isn't bad although since it's tapas it isn't exactly a meal. I also like Avoca although it can be expensive.
Let me know if you find anywhere better
PS I did used to recommend Cayenne for a special veggie meal (since they have a seperate veggie menu) but the last time I went the service was so unpleasant that I really couldn't recommend it to anyone now. But thought I'd mention it in case you wanted to risk it.0 -
What about a Tapas restaurant? I love spanish omelette, olives, bread w/ olive oil, patatas bravas, rice, croquettes (ask if these are veggie though as it varies) and they usually do interesting salads. Mmm....*drooool*

Pier 36 in Donaghadee has a seperate vegetarian menu, though it's been a while since I was there.0
