The price at Dell are very high at the moment, so I would not advise anyone to rush to buy at the moment.0

Yep just spotted the desktop myself.
Lucky for me I can get it via EPP (£364.87)
I've tried badgering them to remove the screen or reduce the shipping costs.. but they would only knock off £35 for removing the screen... and wouldn't touch the shipping charge !
So I may try and flog it on e-bay and buy a 17" or 19" from Aria or somewhere.
Question is.... is it worth upgrading the graphics card or sound card... or can I get the items cheaper else where ??
Cheers All.

Why not just upgrade the screen on that e-value code??
It costs (From memory) £103.40 to upgrade from the 15in to the 19in value monitor (Dsub connector only) and £81 odd to upgrade to the screen that I'd go for,the 1707 (Which has both dsub and dvi connectors, and should also come with a built in usb2.0 hub if it's anything like its predecessors)
As to graphics and sound, depends what you want to do with the system really? Probably cheaper to source from elsewhere tbh as Dell are renowned for charging extortionate prices on certain upgrades!
Good luck

That system doesn't have a graphics card - it uses on-board graphics. If you put in a 128MB 6600GT card, which will cost about £90ish, and flog the 15" TFT for about £50 you'll end up with a very smart little machine for about £450. However you'll still have to add a screen. I wouldn't bother with a sound card as the onboard sound is pretty good - unless you're the sort of person who wants 7.1 surround sound and are using the PC for a home multimedia system to drive an HDTV.
Personally I still think the Dell machines are overpriced at the minute - there were much better machines around last year.
Ever since Tiny went bust Dell has been putting its prices up - each "new" special offer seems to have higher prices than the previous one.You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -

Sorry for the ignorance, but what's the EPP?
Hi sertav,
Some companies have special accounts set up with Dell. Through these accounts staff receive an extra discount, usually around 7%. EPP stands for Employee Purchase Program.

Is the above a good deal? Or is it worth holding out??0 -
Well I noticed that this does not come with sound so upgraded it to onboard (only about £16 and saves a PCI slot) decided not too upgrade the graphics as the other bargin 5150 I bought November time seems to cope well with onboard.ian_linington wrote:So I may try and flog it on e-bay and buy a 17" or 19" from Aria or somewhere.

Dell charge an arm and a leg to upgrade the monitors... between £70-130 for the next one up. I may be able to get £100 on ebay for it and then by a 19" dell from Aria for £176 ish..... but it is for a friend so the 15" may be enough for them !
This looks to be similar deal to the last one I got http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=101005&highlight=5150 just this one includes a monitor... so I'm happy and I just received the PDF from Dell
Enjoy All
