Make sure it isn't just because of a piece of burnt-on food, especially check the roof of the microwave where you often get splatters that you can't see easily, it can make a sparking noise and there would be smoke if it was getting incinerated. :D Better to check just in case, it could save you buying a new one.

It's a cookwork microwave in Argos. I bought one last year and now (post warranty/guarantee by only a month:eek:) it's b*ggered). The lights come on and the turntable spins around but nothing heats up.

bought my daughter one of the cookworks ones for her first house 2 weeks ago, it over heats, cuts out, then works again when it's cooled down, going back to the shop on Tuesday. Wouldn't advise it. But then again, maybe we've just been unlucky. It also had an unsightly sticker across the front of the door which was almost impossible to remove:mad:

That is different to the problem with my cookwork.
It was working fine flawlessly for a year but then as soon as the guarantee runs out it committed harikari and has never worked since. Had no trouble with the stickers and the front window is so reflective it is can almost be used as a mirror which is effectively all it has become now.

Might not be any help but I was in Morrisons today and they had some microwaves on special offer, might be worth a quick call
