Where to buy makeup

Options
Do you know any good website to buy good brands for less.

I found a few links where they are sold cheaper but I'm worried about the quality, have you tried any yourself? is it out of date or something?

And also what brands of makeup do you recommend?

Thank you

This looks good though I haven't used it yet

There are some codes on here somewhere too.

  • I would reccomend Bare Ecsentuals [mineral makeup], Collection 2000[cheaper, and nice stuff], Natural Collection [cheap as chips generally everything is below £2, I've not tried their eyeshadows yet but they look fairly nice. Their bronzer is great.], M.A.C[amazing, but expensive as], Too Faced shadows are gorgeous but their lip glosses smell/taste like cardboard. Urban Decay does great eyeshadows. Stila is good for more sheer colours, more natural and easier to wear, but again, expensive.

There's also No7 at boots which have nice, high-quality stuff; but it's more expensive than general drugstore makeup.

    Makeup freak here :D

    Try magicmakeup.co.uk for cheap makeup.

  • Most of the discount websites I suspect are selling older products. I guess as long as you use them immediately and don't store them they'd be okay?

Make up is quite personal, but I always feel safe with one of the slightly upscale brands.

    My personal favourites:

Chanel - everything + skincare, just luxury and lovely to use
    Dior - everything esp lipgloss
Clinique - everything! They have some great products (make up and skin care) and are a bit cheaper than some other brands.
Urban Decay - everything, but eyeshadows especially. Unique colours, excellent quality and the palettes are very good value.
YSL - everything - nice foundations and liquid eyeliner. Glam and excellent quality products
    Anna Sui - fabulous!

The following are okay but nothing special (I'd use them if on sale or something): Clarins, Elizabeth Arden, No 7, Estee Lauder

Many thanks for the replies :)

So has anyone tried any of these websites, how were your experiences?

I bought several gifts (about £100 in all) from fragrance direct for Xmas presents. They were perfect and much cheaper than in the shops.

  • I've used both directcosmetics and magicmakeup with no problems. I second what an earlier poster said about Too Faced Eyeshadows, they are gorgeous quality. I have Poodle Puff and Love Dovey - they are very shimmery and not quite as glittery as the Urban Decay shadows (which I also love in terms of colours but sometimes the glitter ends up all over my cheeks).

You can pick up makeup cheap on ebay too but make sure you check the sellers feedback as there are some horrors on there and steer clear of Mac on there, as most of it is fake.

I have used beauty counter direct on several occasions - excellent service I have to say and there are quite a few codes knocking about on the vouchers baord. I tend to use well known brands so I know what I am getting but it has all been excellent, anther good one to try is beauty outlet direct, very similar but does lots of dior stuff at cheaper prices. Beauty Counter direct tends to do a lot of Elizabeth Arden, Pout etc.
