Present Ideas Please for Globetrotting Friend

Hi

It's my friend's birthday in a couple of weeks and I've no idea what to buy her and am hoping to get some inspiration from here.

She's in her mid-40s and loves travelling. She spends all her money on her hols even though she keeps telling me that she should get her kitchen painted. I'd therefore like to buy her something travel related if I can.

I'm looking to spend around £20. Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Do you know where her next holiday is - maybe you could get her a guide book, or do a mini hamper with travel sized products, towel, suncream etc.

I have just booked to go to New York with a friend in June, and as her birthday is next Month I am doing her a New York hamper. I'll be putting in:

    Travel guide to New York
    A Big Apple
    New York Bagels
    Hershey Chocolate
    Mini Fan
Ingrediants to make a Manhatten Cocktail
    Some $ to spend
and anything else I can think of/find that is related to New York

Will attempt to do it for £20ish.

2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family.
It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,000
  • How about a nice spiral note book ( spiral on the side) you could decorate the cover, and tie ribbons and fibre around the spiral,
she could use this as a Journal

Last Christmas I got a travel journal as a present. It had pockets for collecting souveniers and lined pages for writing about my travels. I really loved it and used it to keep a diary of our holiday as I always write a travelogue wherever we go, really helped to remember all the little details of each day.

    Other useful prezzies could include:

    Phrase book
Travel guide or book on area/place
    Any travel sized toiletries
    Mozzie spray
    Travel sweets
    Emergency mobile charger
    Currency converter

For my friend who loved trekking and went off to Africa for a year I gave Millets vouchers as he needed good boots and equipment .

  • My sister just made a travel journal for my Niece who has just left to work in china, we all had bits and bobs she could use, a map of china which she cut up and used to cover the front, lucky coins on red ribbon, chinese style glass beads on fibres hanging from the spine, she also stamped the pages with chinese figures etc. Once you start with the intended country then you will find inspiration for all sorts of things to use.to use
  • Is she a "luxury" or a more "backpacker" traveller type?

As a frequent traveller, i find i am always needing the following:

    - reading material (book tokens are great)
    - toiletries (again boots vouchers are good for this as they have branches in most major UK airports)
    - nice foldable bags for toiletries and dirty laundry and the like
    - small bags/purses (or i end up with a big muddle of coinage)

If you're creative making a nice large and small bag(s) for her could be a lovely idea. That way she has not just somewhere to put her things, but a memory of you at the same time.
