Contesting a will

It would be different if the daughters were dependent on her - they are not, so I don't see what possible claim they could have.

As the daughters are coming to the UK to live shortly, one of them could do with inheriting the belongings as she has nothing. By the way, both of the daughters were born in the UK and went to live in SA with their mother when she originally left this country.

Going by your reply to dzug1,I think you may have misunderstood the meaning of dependent.

I find this thread pretty distasteful. The poor lady is still alive and already there is talk of challenging a Will. The crux of the matter was stated in posts 2 and 4.
As long as the lady is of sound mind and have not been forced under duress when she signed the Will then she can leave her estate to whoever she likes.

    Are either of the daughters:
    1. Under 18
    2. Have some form of special needs or a disability which means they can't live independently and are dependent on their mother.

From what you have stated now and before - NO.

This means their mother can leave her estate to who she likes which may or may not include her daughters.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

I don't think this thread is distasteful, it's quite sensible to try to help this woman get her affairs in order.

would it be distasteful if the carer has coerced the old lady into this will?..if this can be spoken about with the lady concerned whilst on her own that would be better.
