Hi. As you live in Bradford have you heard of Christians Against Poverty? They are a national debt charity based in Bradford. You don't have to be a Christian and they will offer non judgemental help and deal with creditors for you while making sure that you have enough to live on Christmas etc. I know that you have made a good start but it might be worth speaking to them. They are recommended by Martin and have helped loads of people on this site. They are free also. Here's a link to their web site hopefully it will work as I'm not the best at links http://www.capuk.org.

Congratulations on how well you've done so far.

I agree with Angelaf that you still need third-party help.

Others will know the answer to this ... are Brighthouse agreements actually hire purchase?

There was tobacco penciled into the grocery costs, we are trying are hardest to stop smoking, This is an ongoing battle, one I think is obtainable but just hard at the moment.

You are doing great! Don't try to quit smoking alone, honestly the Bradford Stop Smoking Service is very good (I know some of the staff very well!) and prescriptions are free. :T

Just reading the thread and CAP immediately sprung to mind- I volunteer with them and they are a fantastic organisation. At our conference this year we actually watched a case study they had filmed of a family in a very similar situation who had people banging on the door for money- you've done brilliantly to stick to your guns and make only the payments you can afford- but long term the situation needs some organisation, and your creditors (the people you owe money to) need to be managed so you can get on with your lives, and be able to afford to live.
What CAP do thats very different from the other debt charities, is get your creditors to agree to a level of payments you can afford (which is actually what everyone else does) AND set up a special account for you so that you actually start to save. We also take our clients on days out, and organise treats for the kids etc, so that there are some fun times as well-so that's why I am confident it would be a good move for you.
The other non paying debt charities are also very very good- I am not knocking them at all- but CAP offer that extra support emotionally with more proactive client contact. I wish you well anyway whatever you decide-
now debt free and determined to maintain good spending habits and build savings
