I need a new television

Options
I'm not sure where this goes to be honest, but I really need a new television and I've not got a lot of money to spend. Is there a site I can go where people offer unwanted/2nd hand televisions on the cheap?

P.S. Sorry if it's not supposed to go here.

Can someone help me? :j

Have you tried your local Freecycle?

You might be able to get one for free!

  • Freecycle - or at least my area's - often has working TVs popping up. Often the biggest problem with these is simply that the original remote has been lost.
  • You might want to have a look at your local Gumtree site as well, there seem to be loads of TVs on there.

Although, if you are in the Edinburgh area, PM me and I'll let you have my old one as I've just upgraded and I've not got round to putting the old one on freecycle yet.;)

I've noticed that a lot more charity shops are now selling electrical goods. They have to be checked over before being sold so I suppose it hasn't been worth employing an electrician for the odd item. But as more & more people are getting new TVs in particular, it's obviously worth it to the shops.
  • Loads of tvs coming up on our local freecycle recently - people replacing perfectly good tvs with flat-screens just want the old one out of the house. Definitely try your local list.
  • Having missing remotes is not a problem really as you can get universal ones on the cheap. Even Poundland used to have some as I remember.
  • I bought a 36" Toshiba CRT (Old style with big back) tv off eBay a month or so ago. It has 5.1 surround sound capabitlity built in aswell. Alright, I know that wont be as advanced as some of the newer home cinema systems but for £22 (Yes, thats twenty two!!!) you cant really argue.

You just have to look for stuff on ebay in your local area, as youre likely to get it cheaper. Try http://www.localbargainfinder.co.uk/.
