Massive, Mindblowing 60" HDTV, Massive price

With HDTV due shortly on Sky, I have been skeptical about how good High Definition would be. Usually piccy improvements lead to larger screens where the lines are just as visible as before, therfore negating quality.
BUT whilst bargainhunting in Currys I came across an impressive and very large
5 foot screen by LG at an eqully large price (£8000+). Admittedly showing a demo, there was no pixilation and close up no loss of quality, ( well not to my old eyes anyway).
Nicely suprised, there is hope then, the hardware seems to be in place, now will the broadcasts stand up?
Just the thing for our mantlepiece, if only

You can buy a projector and make it as big as you like. Projectors are the next thing - not massive, inflexible flat screens.

IMHO
Partly agree in that you can get a huge good quality picture for less money but is not always house friendly as you need to darken rooms and the setting up can be a bit messy unless you get a specialist to do it.0 -
On a recent visit to the States I wsa amazed you could get a Philips 60" HDTV for $1500. Yikes!0

Must say that I was impressed by demo in Dixons
But how much are Sky going to charge for
a) buying siuitable box to connect to HDTV and
b) monthly subscription.
Methinks it will be some time before I fork out my cash0 -
sure i read somewhere recently that sky HD boxes were going to cost £700+0

Might be better off waiting to see what Telewests offering turns out like. Once Telewest and NTL merge will most likely be seeing HDTV from them very soon.Marillion - A Better Way of Life.0

The Plasma screens on demo nearly always show cartoon animation, for example Buzz Lightyear,Shrek or similar.....these are digital productions and look great, especially in freeze frame...no flicker.....but normal or even HDTV human programmes do not look as good....still not as good as the cathode ray tube,i am waiting for 42" lcd screens to be below 1000 pounds......Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0
