Marketing Course - please help.

I work for a small company in sales, but last year took over marketing. I have no experience of marketing and have been given basic training and doing the job, seems to be going well, but I would like to do a proper course. I would need it to be a distance learning or online course as I work full time.

It cant be too expensive as I will be paying for it myself. I have got to grips with Google and Yahoo. I have control over what goes onto the website, but need some help with creativity and copy writing (I'm not a particulary creative person!).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Have any of you taken a course that you would recommend?

Many thanks! :D

  • it would be worth looking on ebay for a couple of marketing text books, or browsing a few in a book shop. they would probably give you a bit of a basis upon which you can then decide if you need to pay for a course.

its also worth checking out your local colleges or business link to see if they do any short courses on the basics for small business.

Thanks ksikthii, I've bought some good books (one of which was recommended on another thread, which is good). I've also attended a couple of seminars. I'll keep looking for a course.

you could join your local Chartered Institute of Marketing branch as an associate. They run good seminars and events on specific topics. Your local chamber of commerce may also run some good sessions. You might meet some useful contacts at these kinds of events too and some people are very generous with their knowledge and experience.

I did a marketing course with the OU as part of my MBA. It's maybe too strategic in content for what you're looking for but I'm happy to send you some of the textbooks so you can have a look. I don't need them any more but very unwilling to throw them out! PM me if you're interested.
