Stock Options Confusion...

Hi,
I work for a small ltd company and have been offered 4000 stock options at £4.10.
I dont have much of a clue about what this could be worth, I know that if the value of shares increases then I could get 4000 x the increase if the company was sold. Presumably if the company issues more stock options the value of each share will go down? Also this is a ltd company so how can I possibly know the value of the company?
I am actually being made this offer in return for signing a contract with a 3 month notice period which I am not particularly keen to do. I would be interested to know anyones opinion on whether this offer of stock options is actually worth anything!
