JSA advice needed...confused!

Hi guys
I am a bit confused in the situation I am and what I am entitled to and was wondering if anyone could help?
Basically I left my permanent full time job in october after months and months of horrible bullying. I was silly and thought I would find another job easily! I got a job at a mobile phone shop and this got very messed up. Basically I was interviewed and told that I got the permanent full time position but when I received the paperwork I realised I had been given the christmas temp position. The lady I spoke to on the phone said she couldn't really do anything about it and I was told that as long as I did well in the xmas temp position, chances were that I would get kept on.
I worked my bum off and did really well but when it came to the end of the xmas job they didn't have any positions for me and I suddenly found myself unemployed.
The following week I made an appointment at the local jobcentre to apply for JSA. That afternoon I ran into a manager at the shop I worked in who said that the part time person they had, had been let go and that they wanted me back. They told me they would tell head office to ring me and sort everything out and that they would speak to me soon.
Like an idiot, I believed that, so instead of wasting the guys time at the jobcentre, I rang up and told them that I thought I would be starting a job so didn't want to waste their time.
Now its 5 weeks later and me and OH have moved back into my parents to save money. I haven't heard from the shop and am now thinking that I am a complete plonker for believing them. I really do need the money and can't find any work atm.
Basically I am wondering what will happen to my JSA claim because I cancelled the appt. It won't get backdated will it?
I don't understand what happens with it, how much will I be able to get? It's all very confusing, I don't understand!
Any help would be most gratefully received

Because you cancelled the earlier appointment because you thought you had a job (even though that didn't materialise) and have taken another five weeks without contacting them, I very much doubt they would consider back-dating your claim. But, the sooner you put in a fresh application the better as far as getting JSA is concerned. So contact them on Friday.0

Yes - I agree with LittleVoice. It's unlikely, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't plead your case to the job centre. The worst they can say is no.
One thing though - have you investigated the possibility of taking action against your former company for constructive dismissal because of the bullying. If you felt you were forced to quit because of conditions this might be worth looking into.0 -
Thanks guys
I have thought about taking action but I was working in a solicitors and the manager is well known for bullying-she made me feel like my life wasn't worth living but there is no concrete proof that she did anything-it would be my word against hers and I know she would win, which is frustrating because if I had printed off the emails she sent to me I would probably be a bit better off, but I was so miserable and out of it at the time that I didn't think of doing that and they will have been deleted months ago.
I will ring up about JSA later today.
Thanks xxx0
