Help with Personal Injury claim please.

Hi,

I was hit by a driver three times over the drink drive limit 3 years ago. My solicitor has just put the action forward and has given me a "rough" figure which we will be going for. To me it seems a little low.

My question is:

Is the solicitor given to my through my car insurance the correct solicitor to go with. Or should I have paid for a private solicitor?

Any thoughts on this would be most appresiated, I feel completely out of my depth with all of this.

Thanks.

  • Hi

I am a personal injury claims handler so hope I can help.

The solicitor appointed by your insurance company should do as good as a job as someone you found elsewhere although, tbh, some companies are a lot better than others. You will find some really care about their clients but some firms have so many clients you become a number and unfortunately they just want to finalise the claim to get their costs back.

Why has the case taken so long to finalise was it a particularly bad injury or was there a dispute over liability? Did the other driver have insurance? These are all things that need to be taken into account.

If liability was clear cut i.e, he hit you in the rear or pulled out of a side road, it should be easy to settle and I would have thought it would have done so before now.

If you were prepared to give me a bit more information about your injuries, I have access to some legal guidelines which the Courts use to determine how much you are likely to receive in compensation. I appreciate that you may not want to do this on the forum but if you wish, send me a PM with details of your injury and I will give you a figure of what I think it would be worth and see if that matches the figure given to you by your solicitor?

    Up to you!
