Dear DFWs, I posted this on the credit card forum earlier but I think my signature made me look at a bit scary
(it scares me), so I thought I'd come to my spiritual home to see what you guys think. As you can see from my signature we are working very hard to clear our debt, and we try to transfer to 0% deals when we can. Will another possible rejection for my other half now have any impact of him applying for a 0% in 6 months time (assuming they are still around.
I am hoping that all the good peeps on MSE can help my other half make a decision on a applying for a Tesco CC.
To cut a long story short he has a large debt on his Virgin CC with an outrageous APR. I have been encouraging him to get a 0% balance transfer, and in October he took the plunge and applied for a Capital One card. Capital One then requested him to send copies of his bank statements.....time went on...and he still hadn't sent them, so the inevitable happened and the application lapsed. Two weeks ago, (after my nagging again) he applied for an egg card, he was turned down. I promptly got him to look at his credit file - looked okay to me, so I suspect that it was the previous search. Yesterday I applied for a Tesco card to transfer a balance from Mint and was accepted. We were both surprised by the simplicity of the process. My other half wants to apply for one today, but I'm not too sure he should. He say's hes got nothing to lose, if they reject him he would have to wait 6months to apply for another card anyway - there seems to be some logic in his thought process, but I'd rather check with you guys to hear your thoughts/experience. Our finances will be linked on our credit reference files by our joint mortgage.
Do you think he should apply?
Many thanks for your thoughts
