Creating an Hourly Rate
Cliddy
My daughter is moving her employment from company employed to freelance and needs to create an hourly rate for her time. The specific components involved in her occupation are no problem (they are very simple), it's more the overheads (obvious ones like property costs) subjects like pension contributions may be forgotten for instance. What I am really after is a web site that provide a check list of items. I know they exist http://freelanceswitch.com/rates/ but I wonder if there are any better ones?

Can she contact people doing similar freelance work and see what they are charging to get a rough approximation of what the market rate is?0

She doesn't need to be driven by market rate, just needs assurance that ALL overheads are covered. AS I say most are obvious, but just needs to cover some of the less obvious that might be overlooked. Lets say for example she might forget the TOTAL cost of running a vehicle.0

Everyone's situation is different. She may incur the following costs: travel, motoring, premises, stationery, postage, accountancy - but it really depends on what type of work she is doing.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

This is exactly what she needs, but having found the one, what she really needs is a web site that lists all these.
Describing her actual set up is too complicated to go into here. Lets just say her specific job content has no overheads (nearly true) but her general overheads are common to everybody. Your list below reflects this well. Just need more !0
