Well, me being me, I would probably get some more hairdye and go over the whole lot with it so it was the same colour - has the dye actually bleached the lino to a lighter colour?
Other things I might try are white spirit, lemon juice, vinegar, brillo pads, soda crystals......''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0 -
I'm sorry to say that I did exactly the same thing last year when my pale cream bathroom lino was 2 days old.
I've tried all the usual suspects and nothing's worked, the stain's still as bright as ever.
My only solution has been to place a mat over the stained area - so hope someone has the answer.0 -

The lino is white with a light green pattern, and the blonde hair colour has left a large round pale yellowish mark (unfortunately it looks as if someone has had a tinkle on the floor, and its left a mark - i promise you thats not happened:o ).
I shall try the suggestions you have mentioned, thanks. It cant do any harm as i will have to replace the flooring if it doesnt work. Oh isnt happy as it took ages to fit and it looked so lovely. Grrrrr ...teenage daughters!:rolleyes:0 -
Hi Mely,
There are some suggestions on this thread that might help:
Help - Hair Dye!
I hope you manage to get rid of the stain. Hair dye stain removal questions come up quite regularly so it would be great if you would come back and tell us if you find something that works.

I have had success with nail varnish remover when I had exactly the same problem!0

As long as the hair dye in question hasn't bleached the area, try conditioner.
My friends a hairdresser, she always dye's my hair for me but she has a tendency to dye everything she comes into contact with while she's at it
I suppose i shouldn't complain haha.... see as she does my hair for free.
Anyway whenever she gets dye all over my wooden flooring or bathroom i use alittle conditioner rubbing it neat, into the area leave for about 15 mins then clean off, always works a treat for me.0 -
This isn't very old style but I find that Flash magic erasers get marks off almost anything. I have got nail varnish off wallpaper, biro off a leather suite, felt tip off a painted wall - I don't know what's in it but it is brilliant stuff! However, if the hair dye had bleach in it and it has actually bleached out the colour of the lino then I don't think you will get the mark out at all.Jane

I got a small mark onto my wooden floor. Rubbing in some cream cleaner, then leaving it for 30mins, and the stain's invisible now
Try these, too:

The title says it all really..
I am more of a lurker than a poster here but just wondered if someone has an OS way of getting hair dye off my bathroom floor. It has a lino covering that is dark mainly in colour and the dye has gone that purple/brown kind of colour.
Any help really appreciated! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
If it's fresh-ish (day or 2 days) then a small bit of bleach on cotton wool should work, that's what I use!* Rainbow baby boy born 9th August 2016 *
