Make saving by buying to much

Hi All.
Found this out by mistake, but I thought I would share it with you all. I recently purchased two tins for Dulux paint from Hombase at £12.99 each. They where running an offer on them of two for £22 (£11 each). Excellent a saving. I then used the paint and it turned out I only needed one tin. I took the additional tin back and instead of refunding me £11, they refunded me £12.99, meaning I actually ended up getting a single tin for £9.01 instead of £12.99. I assume the same would apply to all offer they run like this, so I guess if you are buying stuff from Homebase and it's on '2 for' deal, the best thing to do is buy twice as much as you need and then take back what you don't.
I didn't trick anyone, the guy who did the refund saw the original receipt and everything.
Just thought I would share.
Andrew.

I would doubt that this is company policy Andrew unless it's because the tins were no longer on offer and they have to offer you the current value?
