B&Q - Carbon Monoxide detectors for a tenner!!!

Options
Hi all,

Did a search but doesn't seem to be on here.

As title says really - not sure if store wide but would presume so, or at least in the bigger stores anyway.

They are made by Kidde and are the battery op ones, and for a tenner you can't go wrong - it could possibly be the best tenner you have ever spent!!!

In my store they are just in front of the tills so I guess this will be the same for others.

Seems to just be a promo line so I guess when they've gone they've gone. There are others for about £15 quid too though, and of course higher priced ones.

No excuses - go get one!!! HTH :)

How one would compare them to the Lloyds Pharmacy CO detectors?

I think Kidde products are the best but them I work for them so I would say that!!

I will say however that you really should have at least one in the house as you cant put a price on safety really. I have gone a little mad myself having 2 CO, 2 Fire, and 5 Extinguishers!! Can never be too safe is what I say!!!
  • we have a smoke alarm in every room bar the kitchen and bathroom, but no c0 alarms....yet! thanks op

I have one of these as my combi boiler is situated in a bedroom! Its in a built in cupboard, think it must have been where the old imersion heater was. Not ideal, but it was there when I moved in and funds don't allow having at moved at the moment. So something like this is a must IMHO especially in a bedroom. Anyone who has gas appliances should have at least one! Everyone should have smoke alarms!!!! (Smoke alarms are usually available free from your local fire brigade, phone your's, ask at library or local council if you can't find number, or just pop in station)

I need someone really bad! Are you really bad?

  • Fire alarms are fitted by the fire brigade under a government scheme (so the fire man told us) - we called the local council office who toook the details and a fireman called us to arrange a visit (subject to a call out he told me). tehy even came in the fire engine (shame my son was at nursery), they went through a few questions around fire & safety, offered some advise and fitted 2 alarms, no batteries, last 10yrs.

I then signed a form to say they had done it and they could claim the money back (or however it works)from the Government/Council.

Really pleased with them, they are very small.

Think we are going to get a CO monitor from B&Q now, for £10 well worth it, they did mention it to me aswell

Just to say these could be handy in other places where gas appliances are such as caravans and student digs.

That's a good price. If you are unable to get to a B&Q, Lloyds Pharmacies are doing two carbon monoxide detectors for £20. I ordered them online and you get free p&p.
