Return goods outside of policy period?

Hi there, my first actual post but have been helped many a time by the info here!
My query is with regard to returning goods purchased from a website.
I bought a bag on the 21st Jan but before delivery went on holiday. The item was received by a family member and upon return home i realise that the bag is simply much too small. The website stipulates a 14 day return policy but i figured that i'd call up detail my circumstances and all would be well.... Not the case... i spoke to the grumpiest and most unreasonable man who simply kept stating '14 days is the period and we cant take into account any other circumstances'. No help at all and now im stuck with a product i can't use.
Just wondering if there is anything i can do here or am i really just stuck?
Thanks in advance

There isn't much you can do. You are outside the DSR time limit and unless the product is faulty or has been mis-sold the seller is under no obligation to take the item back.
I'd sell the bag on eBay or keep it safe and give it as a present to someone.0 -
I think that you're basically stuck, the person you spoke to is correct that you are outside the DSR cooling off period (7 days). It isn't their problem that you went away on holiday, you should have thought about that before placing the order really.
Did the site specify the dimensions/sizes of the bag? If so then you may be able to claim that it is unfit for purpose, but if the sizes where on the description you would have a hard time claiming that as you should have checked the size would be adequate before placing your order. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0
