Pound down 5% in two days, and nobody notices!

Sterling is now $1.42 = £1. Tuesday morning, it was $1.49. So, we're 5% worse off than 2 days ago. (OK, that's arguable.)

Shouldn't this be headline news, rather than some bit about a corrie star losing her baby?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

A corrie star lost her baby! I didn't know. When's the public holiday for the funeral?

Before people whinge, of course I feel sorry for the poor woman. A very good friend lost his daughter to a degenerative disease so I have some insight into what she's going through. That it's big news seems silly.
  • I'm not sure we all felt particularly wealthy when it rose from 1.38 to 1.48...so going back again means even less...?

Just be thankful it hasn't fallen further, especially since Merv stuck the boot in as well

Just wait until they start printing money ('quantitative easing')...

The value of the £ will drop like a stone.

I had noticed but was too eekk to start a thread! I had been starting to feel happier about the value of the pound against the dollar and euro but it is def into eek territory again.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I should imagine that most balanced investment portfolios gain when Sterling devalues, so the pension funds should gain. :T

Not sure. I think most UK pension funds have the majority of their assets in the UK as that's where their liabilities lie.
