    Hi
It looks like the voucher codes are no longer working on the Dell website
I'm getting the following message. The codes did work yesterday though
    Coupons Entered
The following coupons have been entered but require additional information or do not meet eligibility requirements. Click "View Details" link(s) for more information.

Did you meet the minimum spend? I'm not saying you did it wrong, it's most likely a duff code, but also, Dell are pretty strict with meeting the terms of the offer, and minimum spend, plus you can't mix offers. If it's a code for the home site, you can't spend that amount at Small Business site and get a discount.

The only condition i found they were lenient with was the maximum 5 PC order on the Small business section, i managed to order over 100 once. I just had to break the order into 35, 35, 30 so as not to reach credit card limits! :)

@tilamok - Just to clarify, i went to the Dell Home site www.dell.co.uk built a Studio laptop to the value of £978 inc. VAT, this then was part of their current online offer which gives £209 discount inc. VAT bring the price down to £768.

As this was above the spend limit for the coupon i successfully put that coupon on the basket and received a further 5% £38.45 giving me a final inc. VAT price of £730.56.

Then you add delivery of £20 yadda yadda. the delivery has come down a lot recently so it's not bad, but i would always look out for the free delivery offers they often have, best time to buy is towards the end of the month.

anyway, i digress, so the coupon works, and you have 3 days to use it, but must meet minimum spend limits. i know dell are expensive anyway, and often their coupons force you to spend a lot, but with careful picking of the start package you can get pretty good deals.

the best bit is that the coupon offer can compound with their default discount offer, so you get that and the 5% on top.

:O) hope that helps and makes sense.

    Hi
I tried the voucer code again just now and it's working this time. It must have been aproblem on the site when I tried it before. Thanks for clarifying that.

Vikpaw thanks alot for this, am a little confused about the fastrack systems and the custom ones, the fasttrack ones at present you get for cheaper than custom build, i basically want a Vostro 3700 with i5 processor, 64bit Windows and 4GB RAM and am looking for the right time to buy, at present it seems you can only upgrade to 64bit through the custom page (says add £30 for Win 7 64bit) i just wsh there was an option for 64bit Windows 7 in fasttrack Dell Vostro 3700 as presently these work out abit cheaper.

Thanks anyway i will wait for these dates and see which (Fasttrack or custom) the offers are applied to.

It's personal preference that i want a Vostro over a studio but seems bizarre that these also sell with 4GB RAM when 32 bit windows max limit is 3GB.

    welcome :O)

Fasttrack is designed for quick ordering so generally come as a pre-fixed build, and ready to ship within 24-48 hours.

Normally DELL is made to your spec', actually built to your requirements and so delivery can often take a week or more. You can track the order online, and see the different stages, like one part being put together in Ireland and on the ferry to the UK then it goes up north to somewhere like Coventry to pick up cables and peripherals etc.

If you want to change something, then they will charge you extra because it's non standard.

I don't know why you dont go for the studio as you can get more offers that way, and get guaranteed cashback from RPoints. I built a basket for £628.99

As for the memory, it depends on what package they put together, the type of memory. A 1GB chip may be cheaper than putting in a 2GB. Usually older stuff is cheaper than the newer. Some memory and computers work better as matched pairs, so even though the unit may not utilise all 4GB, it could work quicker. Also, it's open to future expansion that way. It all depends on the nitty gritty.

If you let me know exactly what start package you chose and what add-ons your putting on, i can take a look. Or can you send me a basket maybe, i think you can still do that.

PM if you like with details so i can take a look, as there are so many paths to take when building the basket, you may think you are getting a good deal by saving £30, but end up with only a CD-Rw instead of DVD-Rw, or lose 200GB of hard drive space.

I can't see a way to get exactly what you want. I see a fasttrack for £645 which you can't edit, but if you build your own, you'll get almost the same apart from a slightly slower processor, for £700.

Don't forget the extra VAT on top. which puts you at the £822 mark. You get free delivery, but at those prices you could afford to buy a cheaper version and buy Windows yourself off the shelf.

See what happens on June the 2nd...

EDIT: my mistake, the studio price was only for a 15.6" screen. The comparable 17" would be £729 inc. VAT which is still cheaper. And there you can see the upgrade cost for processor from .26 to .40 is £50 inc.

Thankyou very much for your help.

    I have only been looking afew days for a new laptop but like i say i'm prepared to wait to save £50 or so, i have given myself a max budget of around £650. I am looking for the following specs;

    17" screen
7200rpm hard drive (any size 320GB or above)
4GB RAM (For the software that i run)
Has to be 64bit windows 7 (any variety)
    An i5 processor (any speed)
Not bothered about any cd/dvd drive (i know you have to have one) certainly dont want/need Blu-ray drive.
Decent dedicated graphics card (the 1GB radeon 5650 in the standard Dell at the mo is perfect)

That is all, as i'm a money saver i'm trying to get the best bang for buck as possible (as many of us do) so there's no rush.

I will wait eagerly to see what the deals work out at on the Vostros from the 2nd through the 5th that you posted above.

I dont know if i'm allowed to post links but i'm aware of all the VAT scenarios on the Dell machines, i have been checking the Dmxdimension site daily and it posts the prices with discounts inc VAT.

I could probably have my arm twisted over the Studio in all honesty :) but see what shows up.

    Thanks again

Got the price to £663! inc VAT so far with that extra £30 one, very pleased.

Just don't know whether to wait until tomorrow through to the weekend for these 2 further offers as it might take away a current one.

Thats before cashback aswell on a Vostro 3700, Do you know any cashback sites that GUARANTEE to stack with these discount dell deals?

Im a member of Quidco & topcashback so far, ive seen you mention Rpoints but checking the site is only 1.5% on Dell deals?

all the offers / codes have end dates on them, but you can't combine more than one offer, but you can add a code on top. so you'll have to pick the best combo. i didn't get any more sent to me today, but you can wait another day and see. i can't remember when the basic dell offer on vostro ends.

i used rpoints because i needed the points to reach a tier. you can use any, and they should all pay out on the final basket price. the discount / code shouldn't affect it. it's normally on the ex.VAT price though.

if topcashback or ANother is better use them. Dell also have an affiliate link on the site i think, it may take you to tradedoubler, which requires a website and approval from DELL, and it may take too long. topcashback say they give it all to you, so you should get the same rate, 110% in fact if you are a 'good' buyer ;)
