My ex had me through the Family Court for the last 18 months. She has been delaying hearings and also engaged solicitors and a counsel. She was hell bent on trying to stop me from seeing my daughter, it seems at all cost. The Cafcas interview was great, the Officer (woman) fantastic, there was nothing to worry. I got great report and recommendations from her. Before the hearing my ex`s lawyers made with me a deal. We agreed on everythig but costs. My exs costs by then were 5000 quid and she wanted me to pay most of it but the woman judge wouldnt have it, so my ex ended up with the costs, while I got what I wanted. I`m certain that she will never venture anywher near County Court:T :T :T :T :T :T in the near future.
To all women thinking of going that way and trying to stich up the fathers beware!!!:T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T
PS. All along I represented myself, no solicitors or legal advice, no costs.

Glad to hear you had a positive experience.
Enjoy your time with your children.
If you need assistance in the future you may want to consider joining FNF ( families need fathers), an excellent organization that assists fathers in this situation, they promote shared parenting. They have branch meetings all over the country and a great helpline. It's often good to meet people in your own situation.
Good luck and well done to you!0 -
Pleased to hear you followed this through without legal help - it shows to others it can be done.
Hopefully your ex has learned a lesson and will co-operate from now on.0 -
My ex took me to court regarding contact with a child he decided he didn`t want to have anything to do with as she had congenital birth defects and the prognosis wasn`t very good. He had not seen her for 6 years and neither did he try to make any contact. When he phoned to ask to see her I said no so he took me to court.
I refused to take the money that I needed for myself and my children to pay solicitors while he had the luxury of legal aid. He didn`t work but I worked whilst looking after my child and seeing to all her health needs. I represented myself and the court suggested that he start with letter contact within an agreed time and I would read the letters and show my daughter the cards. Well he didn`t bother in the agreed time so I contacted the cafcass person and he sent a letter to him. He then sent all the correspondance he should have sent in the 6 weeks at once.
After a few more months of hearings I could see that her father wasn`t really interested and was only trying to make my life difficult. I suggested to the court that he should ring me to arrange access.
This he did eventually and we met with our daughter. She had alot of questions for him and he was surprised that she could actually speak. Yes we were told that she wouldn`t be able to do things normal children could but with my daughters determination she proved the doctors wrong.
Her father has managed about 4 visits over the last 3 years. He says he will come to see her and doesn`t bother for several months.
I am so glad that I represented myself and didn`t spend thousands to line a solicitors pocket.
I have 3 other children from a previous marriage and I have always shared the care with their father and our children at 60% of the time me and 40% of the time their father.0 -
glad you achieved a good result m8, without lining the pockets of lawyers!0

Gr8 news. Shame your ex could not see past her own anger with you and used the children. Hope you pay your fair wack towards their upkeep as well though. My scumbag ex has made one payment in 2 years and doesn't supply any other financial support such as clothes, food etc. He's just lost our former home - repossessed - so I now have a massive solicitor's bill, no maintenance or prospect of any BUT he can see his children whenever he likes - wouldn't and couldn't do that to the kids. Hope you get over your bitterness and settle down with a decent woman.0

That is very commendable of you and most of us on here will respect you for that but I wouldn't mind betting that for every one of you, there is one of the type of PWC that will withhold access to the nrp's child / ren0
