1st Credit?! HELP! CCA request?

Hi there,
I currently have an old credit card debt with 1st Credit, just before xmas I entered into a payment plan with them, via direct debit for £100 per month. Since then I have made December and January's payment on time with the direct debits. Yesterday I received a letter from them stating they intended to take legal proceedings against me!
This has really annoyed me as I have been keeping up with payments and the next one isn't due until the 26th of the month.
So I have decided to write them a letter asking why the hell they are demanding I pay everything in full, when I was keeping up with payments.
Also to make problems worse, my husband has been made redundant therefore we are unable to pay this month, and subsequently I have cancelled the direct debit. Coudl canceling the direct debit have triggered them to send this letter?
My main problem is I have a CCA requrest letter that i'd like to send, but should I send my complaint about the cancelled argeement in the same letter as the CCA, write a separate letter for each issue, or just stick them with the CCA and not complain?
Also could anyone detail to me what the CCA should contain? I want to make sure they dont just fob me off!
Oh and do I have to sign the letter? I'm reluctant to do so after hearing of companies copying and pasting signatures into documents!
Thanks for your help

Might be helpful. To do with offers, but you get the idea.

Up to you whether you combine that with the CCA request or not.Your Home AddresDate:To:
Dear Sir/Madam
Re: Account/Reference Number
Thank you for your letter/telephone call of ________________________. I am/we are very disappointed that we seem unable to reach a satisfactory compromise in this case. As I/we have already explained, I/we can only afford £__________ per month at the present time. This is the only realistic payment proposal bearing in mind the enclosed personal budget sheet.
You have stated in correspondence your intention to commence proceedings in the county court against me/us. The commencement of legal proceedings under such circumstances could be counter to the 'Overriding Objectives' of the Civil Procedure Rules. You will be aware that the 'Overriding Objectives' underpin everything the court does. Moreover, paragraph 4 of the Protocols Practice Direction states that in the cases not covered by an approved pre-action protocols, the court will expect the parties to "to act reasonably... in trying to avoid the necessity for the start of proceedings".
I/we would suggest that your refusal to accept my/our offer could be viewed as unreasonable and I/we would ask the court to consider this matter with reference to the 'Overriding Objectives'.
The offer of £_______________ is of course still open to you to accept.
Yours faithfully

Re 1st Credit. I know someone who recently received a letter from a bank saying his credit card debt had now be reassigned (i.e. sold on) to 1st Credit. He is on a Debt Management Plan with CCCS and when he phoned them to inform them of this he was told 1st Credit are a pretty nasty bunch so your tale does not surprise me. He also phoned 1st Credit to get the new account number and the bloke on the phone was very abrupt, almost rude. They get their money by getting as much unpaid debt back as possible. I would suggest you ring CCCS or a similar organisation for some free advice on dealing with this company. One life - your life - live it!0
