And another f&f

I got a text from EQL who took over my MBNA debt. They asked me to ring them on freephone no. so i did. They told me they could offer me 15% off my MBNA cc debt 6000summit instead of 7780summit (see below) i said yeah right, mbna offerred me 3100 to pay it off.

He said, is that summit i could afford. I said possibly but it would take a few mths. So i am paying 235 on 10th march, 235 on 10th april and 3000 on 10th may :) - BUT NOT PAYING A PENNY TILL I GET IT IN WRITING (told them that too) and i said i want it in there it is a full and final and that it will be classed as settled with the credit ref bureau. He said no prob - so will await letter.

ooooooooooooo another debt gone am happy happy happy :):) - was saving to do a f&f on this at the end of the yr but to have it gone in may is brilliant news. Frees up £40 to pay off other debts now as well. (from 10th may of course) - will be tight the next cple mths and need food budget down to about 100 for the mth for 2 mths but should be poss. Then with additional teaching i will be ok for the 235 each mth and then keep saving my 800-1000 a mth and debt gone.

wooooooppppppeeeeeeeee Start: 11 creditors. Now: 9 creditors May: 8 creditors :)
DFW since JAN 2009 - 2014 will be the year i finally clear debts :) Just to see which month :))))

Well done Natalie, that's fantastic! You're right to await the letter though xx

Natalie, could I ask if you were already paying amonthly sum to them anyway, to pay the debt off? You mention that you will be paying 2 lots of £235, was this a monthly arrangement anyway?

The reason I ask is becuase my OH has just set a SO to pay off a debt at £50 per month, however, can he ask for a F&F figure? Or can he suggest one? Can you go in with a silly figure and negotiate from there?

    Sorry for sounding so ignorant.

    Cheers, Birdy
It's wouldn't have not wouldn't of, shouldn't have not shouldn't of and couldn't have not couldn't of. Geddit?
  • I currently pay £40.43 mth on a DMP - so as i won't have the full amt for f&f they have arranged it so i can basically pay in 3 installments instead until i have the full £3000. This increased it. Had i paid it all in one go would of been 3,100. Won't pay hte 40.43, just the 235 for 2mths then the 3k in may :)
