Sorry but where is the profit in these?
If you are buying them to use them then surely you arent making any profit?Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
buy one large letter stamp now for 52p
when the prices go up when you want to post something for say £2 you will get 61p off that price. Saving yourself 9p. If you bought £52 worth of stamps then you'd save yourself £9.
Or you can sell them on ebay.
Basically you're locking in the cheaper price for everything you post in the future.0 -
Saving isnt the same as making a profit though.
Do stamps sell on ebay for face value? (by that I mean current market value in this case)Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
If you sell stuff on eBay then you're selling postage so you're making a profit. They sell for the current market value aswell although I'm not sure if there'd be great profit after fees are taken.0

Right on all counts.
Of course if you have 3 of them, cost to buy now £1.56 (unless like me you got to Superdrug before closing on Saturday and paid just 49.5p each - so 148.5p) you stick 3 of them on your package after price increase (April 6th) and they'll be worth £1.83 of the total.
You will save 27p by "buying the postage" for that package NOW rather than after 6th April - for me I'll save 34.5p in the same circumstances.
(Actually slightly more - probably 36p - since I also paid for them with a cashback credit card)
As it happens there isn't an exact "£2 package" - after increase the nearest for this example is the 251g to 500g weight range which is £2.14 for 1st class OR, being the MSE :money: savers that we are, the preferred 2nd class at £1.85
So you send your 499g item 2nd class with THREE 1st class Large Letter (was 3 x 52p - "now" 3 x 61p) stamps on it PLUS a 2p one.
£1.85 package sent for just £1.58 ( me just £1.49 :j :j )
YES YOU CAN DO THAT !! (for those unaware of this)
I've just realised that the discussion posts about using 1st class stamps for 2nd class mail hasn't been covered here, they were on another thread.
Just because it says "1st" doesn't mean that it can't be used towards the postage total of a 2nd class amount.
AND you can use multiple 1sts or 2nds and mix them on the same letter/package.
They all HAVE A SPECIFIC VALUE - it's just NOT INDICATED what it is.
They (NVI stamps "NO VALUE INDICATOR" - only has 1st or 2nd on them) just have a "face value" that's "fixed" for a certain period of time - when postage rates change, as they will on 6th April, the "face value" is "re-fixed" at the new "basic rates" for 1st & 2nd letter classes - of which there are now 2 - "Letter" and "Large Letter" - making a total of 4 NVI stamps.
Actually there are 7 NVI stamps - 3 "International" ones for Airmail
"POSTCARD" - Worldwide Postcard (under 10g) - currently 56p - will be 62p
"EUROPE" - European airmail up to 40g - currently 72p - will be 81p
"WORLDWIDE" - Worldwide airmail up to 40g - currently £1.22 - will be £1.35
These may be of use to some

If they say 1st or 2nd then they will always be valid
Correction, they will always be valid for as long as QEII is monarch, if she snuffs it or abdicates all cease to be legal and become collectables, bad news if you've stocked up on thousands, maybe superdrug know something we don't

So if she dies today nobody can post a letter tomorrow or until new stamps have been made and distributed to post offices ?
I don't think that will work somehow

Where on earth did you get that "gem" from? Postage stamps don't have a 'use by' date on them. The only exception I know of is when we went over to decimal currency in 1971, and the old LSD became obsolete, but even then they were still in use for some time to allow people time to use them up.0
