Easter Bonnets

Hi,
My 3-year old twins have their first parade coming up this year. Does anyone have any original ideas that I could steal please? Many thanks..

  • No ideas however she could decorate a hat, I nipped into pound world earlier on and they had loads of bonnets that were just plain ;) they were ... yup you guessed it £1!

  • I've been making plans for my son's Easter Bonnet parade too and am planning on making a giant Creme Egg hat - basically you cover a balloon in papier mache, burst ballon, cut a jagged top and fill with white tissue paper and yellow for the yolk. The bottom half of the egg will be covered in creme egg wrappers. I'm currently begging my family and friends to keep all their wrappers to make sure I have enough.
Sounds simple in theory but I will let you know how it goes;)

Last year i made my son a top hat with a rabbit bursting out of the top, I then decorated the rest of the hat and had little eggs dangling off the rim. Not sure if I have a pic to hand but I will have a look.

  • Was gonna say that Pound world had the bonnets in too Rusty.

On the idea front my mum always covered mine with tissue paper flowers then stuck them little furry chicks you get all over always loved helping her do it. Made it look like a spring scene type thing, if you can picture it? Always remember wanting the same every year LOL..

You could use the bonnet out of pound world to do this, they also had packs of easter tissue paper (yellow green and orange) and as for the chicks you can get them in Home Bargins, also noticed they had bunnies made the same way this year.

Love the idea of the eggs hanging off the rim of the hat.

How about a Humpty Dumpty Hat
A box big enough to sit on head covered with 'brick' paper - search google and you can print off and colour in
Collect real eggshells and 'mosaic' onto an egg shape - add eyes legs arms etc
As they are twins one could be humpty on the wall and the other humpty at the bottom of the wall?
Alternatively a headband with glittery pipe cleaners twisted on with chicks eggs bunnies at the ends? - easy to wear
Don't make anything too heavy - I made a bonnet nest with real sticks/twigs but it was so heavy my little one nearly broke her neck !!!

Thanks so much for the ideas, they have given me much inspiration. Think I may attempt the huge egg but I will paint it an egg colour rather than be responsible for friends and family's weight gain!
