I have 2 children who live with me full time who I get child tax credits their dad who lived on and off with us for years finally walked out on us in October and has not been back he has never paid any money to us for maintance, even when he lived with us he never helped with the bills now I find myself struggling would the csa take money from the child tax credits I receive or not

CSA money is in addition to any tax credits you get. Do you know your ex's circumstances? Is he self employed or being paid cash in hand? I ask because these are notoriously difficult cases if he chooses not to co-operate. Otherwise, they can get a deductions of earnings order on is wages, but that doesn't seem to stop some NRPs (usually those who are single with no bills to pay) from leaving their jobs to avoid paying (despite it being an offence to do so - deprivation of income and they are legally obliged to give a forwarding employer).0
