Tefal Steam Generator less than half price!!

I had noticed on a recent Debenhams tread that they were selling the Tefal 2941 at around £114.99 half the original price of £229.99.

So I was disappointed to discover that the offer had ended.

I then decided to hunt down the best price for this steam generator, and found it at an even better price for £97.55 plus £6.79 P&P at QED-UK (total cost £104.34).

I ordered it on Sunday evening and it arrived on Tuesday and it is fantastic!

This is still priced at £229.99 on Amazon and Argos - so I am happy with a great bargain and great service.

On that website is another tefal iron and its also 2200 watts. but costs 61 pounds. Whats the thing to look for with these generator irons? Also, any tips on these being used in hard water areas?? Thanks

What I looked for was how many grams of steam per minute that the iron can produce.

The one that I bought is 100 g/min and I can see a Morphy Richards one at £61 which is 70 g/min (I can't see a Tefal one for £61). How much difference that makes I am not sure about - my logic was the more steam the better.

I believe that the power rating (ie 2200w) is an indication as to how quickly the water in the tank can be heated - just like a kettle.

The tefal 12978 looks an absolute bargain at 49.77, 2400 watts and 90g/min steam output.

If buying from QED-UK, then do it through EDF Energy Shop and Nectar Points and you'll earn 2 Nectar points per £1 in the process - not a huge fortune, but still £1 back for every £100 spent!

Tchibo have their steam generator iron on their website at £49.90 at the moment. I bought one last time they were available, and it is awesome - will never use a standard iron again. Comes with a 3 year warranty also.

    Don't forget to use Quidco!

I bought Aldis steam generator iron some time ago. Was a bit worried that it would be no good, as the price was only about £35.00. Its fantastic. Cant imagine how I managed before.

Sorry cant remember all the specs.
