hi benson i`d really recommend " the dairy book of home cookery" its my bible,

I third this! I've had my copy since the 80's and it's the cook book that I always go back to.

Regarding cooking roasts, if you buy your meat from a butcher, it won't have the weight or timings on it! So, weigh it. Put in a really hot oven for 20 mins to seal the juices in, then turn the oven down to about 150 and cook for 20 mins per 500g or 1lb, plus another 20 mins. Take it out and let it rest for 20 minutes or so before carving.

  • Also, childrens' cookbooks are useful. I'm not proud. I have several on my bookshelf.. The one I'd recommend is the Usborne Cookbook for Children by Rebecca Gilpin and Fiona Patchett isbn 978074608804-3
