Removing non stick coatings

I bought a lovely stainless steel frying pan but threw it away after a few months as it was impossible to fry anything in it without it sticking like crazy, eggs were a definite no no0

Is there a knack to cooking in stainless steel pans then? Everything I try to cook ends up burnt, hence why I got non-stick pans.
I still have 2 brand new non stick pans that I got as wedding pressies but like OP I hate the idea of throwing out pans that i've only had for 7 years....Must learn not to count chickens before they are hatched!!!!:D
Every day is a new challenge not a new problem!:p

Blue steel frying pan from DeCuisine. They are brilliant - far better than any non-stick I've ever had. They develop a patina with use and get better and better as you use them.0 -
Thanks justamum, never heard of them but will look into getting one.0

I have not had a good experience with this company. Took my money but did not supply goods or refund me.
See my You Tube video. Go to the site and search on deCuisine complaint0 -
I have a Le Creuset frying pan which I would like to remove the non stick from, but it's pretty solid. DH says he will use his sandblaster on it (when he gets sufficiently organised).
It may be a while before I can say whether this works or not!!It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Someone removed the non-stick from a saucepan I had as a student. The culprit never owned up but I suspect he (I lived in a house full of guys) burnt something to it and then scrubbed it to get if off, removing the coating along with it. I still have the pan more than 10 years later and still use it all the time. It's a better pan for NOT having a teflon coating!0

Anyone got any tips on how to get burnt food from a non-stick pan???
I've had these pans for over 12 years maybe more.. and they are great pans and don't want to throw it out as part of a set, and its the main size pan I use.. I've heard cola is good but I've tried that, I don't know if I let it boil for long enough, I am too inpatient but if means it works I will leave it longer.I am now debt free :j:jsince January 2009
but really need to learn how to save and budget to get some savings behind me :eek:0 -

Bung some biological washing powder into the pan, fill with boiling water. Leave overnight. Should come off really easily then. Or invest in some pan scrapers, you can use them on non stick without damaging them. I got mine from Pampered Chef, but I'm sure other places sell them.0 -
