trades unions - which one for the social care voluntary sector?

I'm currently with Unison, and I have to say I'm less than impressed with them - those of us in small voluntary sector work places that don't recognise unions might as well not exist.
All the information they send is about the public sector, they assume you have a union rep in your workplace, and I feel like a very poor relation indeed - I have not received anything relevant to me in years!
The only time I needed information about a TUPE transfer I was given incorrect info as the person I spoke to assumed that I was in the public sector (even though I told him I wasn't) and told me stuff that just wasn't right.
Any one who works in social care who can recommend another union that might actually want to know me?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

They are, unfortunately, much of a muchness. I used to be in Unison but when I needed help (I was a branch official) I was ignored and didnt receive the help I wanted, I joined a different union - Prospect and they were even worse.

You could try Unite but they are much the same as Unison. Other than that I am not really sure.

Why not stand for election yourself, problem solved?

Because our workplace doesn't recognise unions so I'm not going to get paid time off for attending to union business.

The only alternative is Unite (previously Amicus).
