new acct added to credit record?? help

Hi,

Was hoping someone could help with this, my husband and I have been working hard for 7 years to clear our debts (only 2 left to go) We were rather shocked though this month to see a new acct added to his record for £500, we recognise the company as we bought our car from them, but we paid it off in jan 04 and have the letter to prove it. Why would it be added now?? any ieas please?

thanks

The only reason it should appear when it hasn't before is possibly because the DCA's don't list all you debts. They may list it as it was an account that was active in the last 6 years, but i would phone the CRA to enquire what the £500 relates to. They should be able to tell you what company listed it if this was not clear and you can hopefully write to them for an explanation.
