Apparently the Panasonic ??20 is £129.99 in Richersounds this week. That I think is a stonking deal (if you are happy with a DVD RAM machine)0

how can you not be happy with a DVD RAM machine? Th only format missing is +RW which given it has -RW and RAM makes it a bit of a non issue. For the price, probably best value around0

I'm not suggesting you shouldn't be. All I meant was DYOR on that...
A cracking price though..0 -
The panasonic drmes10 is £109.99 at tesco. Great machine. If you get it at John Lewis on an undersale you will get a 2 year warranty too.0

i am thick - what is RAM, -RW & +RW please? i just want 1 to take the place of our worn out video for watching & recording from tele.Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!0

Even better. Buy it in Richer Sounds its on sale for £119. According to their price match they'll offer it to you for the Tescos price and give you £10 on top. Making it £99.990 -
Our local co-op (Tutbury in Staffs) are doing their cheapie dvd recorders (which used to be £89) for £49. Don't know if they are doing it nationally or not but it is an indication of the way that prices are going.
( I don't know what the name of it is but it is a bit like a cyclops with a big eye in the middle)I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!0 -

It'll be a Cello - comes with a poor reputation hence the price - must be one of the few electrical items out today that nearly manages more returns than sales.
Think you'll be better off with the Panasonic - remember that DVD RAM allows you to timeshift TV like a PVR, so you can pause 'live' TV etc - for just over a £100 well worth it.0 -
Dont wanna blow my own trumpet but i am a bit of an expert on dvd recorders (its my living) and i agree that the panasonic is an excellent machine. As they are still 'relatively new' technology i find that one of the most important things with buying a dvd recorder is being able to take it back if it breaks down or has a software error. Richer sounds offer an unbeatable warranty for about a tenner so they are excellent all round.
A bit of a wildcard entry but i've found that ASDA's economy players (around £60-70 quid) are really excellent quality and have amazing features for the price. Plus asda allow you to take them back whenever or wherever! Steer clear of the co-op version0
