    A&L, Bradford and Bingley, Abbey National were the biggies IIRC.

    Was this about the same time when all were merging together - Halifax/Leeds, lloyds/TSB etc? I can't remember as I really wasn't all that interested at the time as I was too busy doing important stuff such as posing in my Sierra!

    You can wikipedia the list, 10 floated on stock exchange (now all gone, either merged or sold to conventional bank) and a bunch more have merged. Did you really try posing in a Sierra?

    Yup, I really did. It was black, with blacked out windows and lights and a Fido Dido on the back. I am not proud of myself.
