He had to go/be pushed.Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists of choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable. J. K. Galbraith0 -
I was amused by the spin HBOS put on moore's dismissal: 'made redundant due to restructuring'.
strange that Moore's recollection of leaving is different.
I wonder what broon makes of it.0 -
Excellent news. Another of the [strike]President's[/strike]Clown's men is shown the flap from the 'big tent'.0

I don't think it's that he doesn't want poking - the poking will happen regardless. And we may very well find out that the issue was properly independently investigated by KPMG, and that this Moore fellow has just been telling us vengeful porky pies.

After a sabatical period, Crosby was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Financial Services Authority.
During a session of the Treasury Select Committee of the House of Commons on February 10th, 2009, it was alleged that HBOS had ignored warnings by its former head of Group Regulatory Risk, Paul Moore, relating to risky business practices. In 2005 Moore was sacked by Crosby, with Moore quoted as saying that Crosby wrote "The decision (to sack Moore) was mine and mine alone."[8]

The unmasking of Sir James, one of Gordon Brown’s top City advisers, for his culpability in Britain’s banking meltdown is long overdue. There is still amazement in the City at the miracle of timing that had Sir James step down from HBOS in July 2006 in favour of the much maligned Andy Hornby – a hospital pass if ever there was one. For it was the Yorkshireman Sir James – whose knighthood in 2006 is thought to have been on Mr Brown’s recommendation – who devised the business model that brought HBOS to his knees.

I don't think it's that he doesn't want poking - the poking will happen regardless. And we may very well find out that the issue was properly independently investigated by KPMG, and that this Moore fellow has just been telling us vengeful porky pies.
Quite impressed that either the FSA and Gov't gave him the push to quickly; or that he didn't squabble to keep and job and accepted that he had to resign immediately.
Jeez, it’s clearly obvious that their will be plenty of evidence, as his type don’t resign unless it’s absolutely undeniable.
You really believe that the investigation was ‘independent’? :rotfl:
He, the Gov, Moore and KPMG knew why he had to go and we will also find out, which no doubt, will be very revealing.:D0 -
