Who is calling me??

Hi

This evening I received a phone call (on my mobile PAYG) from an 0161 number. I have tried finding out who it belongs to as I missed the first part of the automated message. I have a feeling I know, but am surprised that (a) they have got my mobile number when I have not given it to them, and (b) they called me at 8.03pm.

If it is who I think (Moorcroft) I had until 10am this morning to respond to their 'threat of litigation' letter and I sent them a reply yesterday offering F&F.

What should I do next? I don't really want to return their call but obviously don't want them starting to call me on my home phone (where my children could answer) or at work.

Should I just leave it a couple of days by which time they will have received my offer and then see what they do? I don't want to deal with them over the phone but will communicate by letter.

Any advice??

Hi 10past - I was hoping you were around.

No, the number is 0161 475 2875. I was just assuming due to the fact that my deadline for contacting them was today?

    Thanks

I'm 99.9% certain that's a Moorcrap number, next time they call, state right away, "This call is being monitored"

Will do if I get the chance. This message was an automated message, pre-recorded and went something like "this is.....(missed that bit) if you are the person who owns this number, please call us back on 0845......(again, did not write that down so can't remember it).

I will keep a log of when they call but have no idea how to monitor a phone call (although I can tell them that the call is being monitered).

I don't intend to call them back. I will wait until they call me again because I have not ignored them - I wrote back so will wait for them to respond to my letter.

You can, but I think saying "This call is being monitored due to abusive phone calls" is much more powerful ;)

They'll have no idea whose monitoring the call :rotfl: :rotfl:

Suzy if they do call your mobile again, tell them they have the wrong number.

If they call you at home, tell them you refuse, to speak , and all correspondence MUST be in writing only. If the persist on calling you, then this would constitute harrasment, and is illegal .

Finally dont let them bully you, or force you to pay more than you can comfortably afford . ( they may say your offer is to low, ) also they often say the cannot accept standing orders, when in fact they can , ( Much safer as they seem to help themselves, when a dd is set up )
