Weird CCJ Problem

i have had a credit report and the local council took out a CCJ for unpaid rent which was 484 all done over a year after i had moved on from their property.
i find out through the court that it was the local council, so i approached them to pay the whole 484 in one go, but i was then told be the woman on the counter it was now 752 to get it cleared? i need this ccj satisfied but can they do this to me?
the reason she gave was that i had incured costs after the court gave judgement, never told me what they were and asked if i wanted to set up a payment plan for it all and once ALL of it is cleared then they will settle it as satisfied?
all i need to know are what are my rights and can the hold me to the 752 to clear a 484 ccj?
thanks for any help in advance

When was the CCJ issued?
I would advise contacting nationaldebtline as i was under the impression that you could only be charged 8% interest on a CCJ if interest was being added.
I think you should ask if it would be possible to get the judgement set aside as you never received the original court papers. If it was more than 6 years ago, they may also need to apply to the court for permission to enforce the debt. As it's a council, not too sure on that though. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0

I think you may find it was court costs that you will be responsible for if the CCJ was issued.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0
