in Cutting tax
Hi,
First post on here; my friend recently realised that they have been paying too much tax and so it made me wonder as well. I've used a couple of tax calculator's but am still none the wiser as to if I'm on the right code and also if I am due any back or need to pay them.
Can anyone help me understand this?
My pay details are below:
Tax code - BR Cumul.
Pretax pay - 1,507
PAYE - 301.40
NI A - 116.01
Any help would be most welcome

Is this the only taxable income you have had in the current tax year ie since 6th April 08? If so yes you probably are entitled to a refund of tax as you have been on a BR code which means you have not had the benefit of your tax free personal allowance. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. You need to ask your employer for a form P46 which you sign to say this is your only job. They will then put you on emergency code w which gives you some tax free allowances. YOu then need to ring your tax office to find out what info they need to issue a cumulative code so your employer can make your refund.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0
