We took our CAB advisor with us.....andthen out fot a drink on the way home...but I think thats the exception rather than the rule:rotfl:
Our paperwork was stamped with the CAB stamp as well.

For FREE advice. Your local CAB Office - ask to speak to a 'money advisor'.*The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111*National Debtline - Tel: 0800 808 4000*Payplan - Tel: 0800 917 7823*Insolvency Helpline-0800 074 69180 -
Hi Jan,
I took my advice from CCCS (not a great deal, I had already decided). When I got to court, the usher asked if I had taken advice? I replied Yes, from CCCS and she asked if I had a letter!!!!! No one had mentioned that before. I didn't and it wasn't a problem, it seems, but even so.
What about trying CCCS or are you specifically waithing for ND?

Hi Jan
We had been in a IVA but took no further advice, we just had no choice. We were asked by the Judge if we had received advice and we were honest told him we couldnt carry on with the iva, he looked at our forms and said he could see we were insolvent and that was that. Perhaps because we had been in the iva previously it was clear we were clearly in severe debt and had tried alternative routes to solve it.
Perhaps you could call the court and ask if they require a letter?

Ahhhhh I took advice from Cab(local) N debt line and Business debt line all were a waste of time. They sent me packs and stuff but I had no meeting.
Can I just say "Yes I have advice from all three" on the phone
Perhaps they should ask " Have you recieved advice from ' The bankruptcy and living with it community'Better to be poor than a slave to wealth

Well, you get better info from here! But alas, we are not the professionals, so please don't try it!
I told the judge I had spoken to Payplan and CCCS. It was a slight fib - I hadn't spoken to CCCS, and I had spoken to Payplan but it was over a year prior to my BR. They way I saw it, these are charities and they are there to help people who need it. I didn't need it - I researched everything myself very well and didn't want to waste time talking to a busy charity and taking that time away from someone who needed it. In the same vein, if I chatted crap to the creditors who called, then they wouldn't be hassling the little old lady when tied up with me.0 -
Nobody ever asked us if we'd taken advice, if they had I'd just have said CCCS.
Nine times out of ten it will be a passing question, with rarely any proof required.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I will just say "I have taken advice from the three I mentioned above"
The B debt line did say "I was in to deep and insolvent and to go for it anyway"Better to be poor than a slave to wealth
