Lead by Example Gordon Brown: Buy a new build (they cant give them away)...

Homes that £20,000 of 'goodies' can't sell
A 'goody bag' of cash and vouchers worth almost £20,000 has failed to attract buyers to an upmarket development in Wandsworth.

Developer Ipsus expected its 103 flats to fly out of the marketing suite when the scheme was launched in autumn.

I think Gordon Brown and the other MPs should put up or shut up...
If the new builds are value for money, GO AND BUY ONE YOURSELF!

Maybe WE should start a petition?

Some lenders agree: Britannia, Scarborough and Skipton, will not lend on a new or recently constructed place.
Others, like the West Bromwich, want a deposit of up to 50%.

  • They want up to £430,000 for a two bedroom flat! Plus over £20,000 for car parking. Hardly surprising they are having difficulty in selling.

MP's are the only people who could afford one of these at the cosy housing allowances they have awarded themselves.

It's probably Gordons idea to have the £20,000 goodie bag.

Saves lower property prices filtering into the system! Gordon would love that.

Maybe they're Woolworths, MFI and Zavvi vouchers?

    Cash in Zimbabwean dollars.

    not in bulk i'm afraid

looked at the figures for north wales and they could probably buy ten in total (split between the counties)

I read that they were only interested in houses which makes most of these new builds useless for them.

Also, the build quality is too shoddy for social housing, apparently.

"The idea was to do something different that people could see as a direct benefit in these cash-strapped times. 'The developer recognises the need to provide incentives over and above the quality of the development alone."

Which you could also read as, "We know that we should really knock £50k to £100k off the price to get these to sell. But we don't want to do that so we've put together a package of £20k extras to pull the wool over people's eyes. We figure if someone is stupid enough to buy a new build flat at the present time then they may well fall for free cinema tickets too."

Whilst it's not my cup of tea, I'd be pretty happy with social housing that looks like that development.
