Egg Loan top-ups

I have a loan with Egg and telephoned them to see if I could add on £2,500 as a top-up amount. I was told that they no longer did telephone applications and to apply on the site. They also said I would have to request the whole loan again, including the amount outstanding, so in effect a new loan, and they no longer did fixed rates so it would depend on circumstances.

So I filled in the form to get a quote. My current loan rate is 7.9% (I've had the loan for two years). The new rate? 19.9%!

I won't be bothering, that is just profiteering. I just wanted to post this to let other people know what Egg are up to.

Eggs rates are useless now they have been acquired by citigroup.

The seem to be running it into the ground and making as much profit out of existing customers as possible.

Suggest you try to get a £5000 loan with no repayment penalties elsewhere - if you rating is good you should get 9.9% then repay half the loan immediately.

    Good luck
